About Wootton
Wootton is a charming village situated on the north coast of the Isle of Wight, midway between Ryde and Newport. It is about 3 1/2 miles from each and within a short distance from the main ferry terminals of Fishbourne and East Cowes. The village is located amidst beautiful countryside, some of which are Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Wootton is blessed with not only a beautiful setting but some very ancient history. The Creek and Mill Pond forms the eastern boundary of the village and its creek has been used as a waterway and port for thousands of years. The Romans landed cargo here; King Canute is said to have come ashore here; and the monks from nearby Quarr Abbey, who owned the mill, had a fishery at the creek mouth.

The village has a mixture of modern and Victorian buildings including the 11th century Parish Church of St. Edmunds, and The Sloop Inn in Mill Square. Also of interest is the Isle of Wight Steam Railway with its Station and Connections to Havenstreet, Firestone Copse with picnic sites and walks, with views across the Millpond. Quarr Abbey and Osborne House are nearby. A truly special place
